Uber China investor HNA grows with $6 billion Ingram buy

HNA Group, which last month bought a small stake in Uber China Ltd.,has followed up with a $6.1 billion takeover of California-based software company Ingram Micro Inc. through shipping affiliate Tianjin Tianhai Investment Co.

China’s HNA has aggressively expanded its transport, tourism and logistics portfolio to include stakes in Hainan Airlines Co., Spain’s NH Hotel Group SA and Spokane-based Red Lion Hotels Corp. Last month, HNA’s Bohai Leasing Co. subsidiary paid $2.5 billion to complete the purchase of aircraft provider Avolon Holdings Ltd.
